Abstract: The lead article, Homosexuality in Micronesia, by Major Scott Nicloy, explores the challenges faced by gay, lesbian, and bisexual individuals in island communities. Drawing on counseling cases and personal correspondence, it describes instances of verbal abuse, workplace harassment, and threats of violence. The essay highlights how religious condemnation compounds the stigma and isolation experienced by sexual minorities, and calls for more compassionate pastoral care.

Additional commentary addresses how homosexuality is perceived in Pohnpei, Chuuk, Yap, and Kosrae, with references to church teaching and community attitudes. The issue also notes experiences reported in the Marshall Islands and Palau, showing that discrimination is widespread but responses vary. Examples of support networks and appeals for tolerance are included, underscoring the social complexity of this controversial subject in Micronesia.
