Abstract: Conchita Leyangrow of Lamotrek Atoll interviewed on Yap by Modesta Tauwl about backstrap weaving in the Outer Islands of Yap, Federated States of Micronesia (FSM) in April of 2022. The interviewee discussed the differences in weaving in the past vs. today, the preparation of local fibers, and the role of mentorship and culture in the transmission of weaving skills. The interview is conducted in the Ulithian language.
