Micronesian Reporter 1959 V07 06. Micronesian Reporter (Report). Hagåtña, Guam: Trust Territory of the Pacific Islands. November 1959. p. 32.

Abstract: Beginning in 1951, the Headquarters for the Trust Territory of the Pacific Islands (TTPI) regularly published a magazine that detailed its work in the region. From 1951 through the first issue of 1956, the magazine was known as the Micronesian Monthly; from the second issue of 1956 through the end of the run in 1980, it was known as the Micronesian Reporter. From 1951 through December 1967, publication cycles varied: For the most part, the magazine was produced monthly, though certain issues cover two or more months. Starting in 1968, the magazine was formally shifted to a quarterly publication cycle, which continued through the first quarter of 1980, when publication ceased.

The November–December 1959 issue documents education milestones and official events across the Trust Territory.

A feature highlights the dedication of the Pacific Islands Central School (PICS), attended by students from all districts. Reports describe their arrival, early experiences, and interactions with U.S. Secretary of the Interior Fred Seaton. Another story records High Commissioner Delmas H. Nucker issuing the first Trust Territory passport on October 7, 1959, witnessed by Dr. Nifil Skan Sou, medical officer of Truk/Chuuk District. Cultural coverage includes the “Ourorou Procession” and stories of turtle hunting.

Other notes reference the mountains of Pohnpei in the background of photographs, student programs in Guam, and summer breaks for nursing students. Institutions mentioned are the Pacific Islands Central School, the Trust Territory government, and the Department of Health.
