The Mariana Islands are a group of islands in the western Pacific Ocean, and they are part of the larger island group known as Micronesia. The archipelago is made up of 15 islands and is divided into two political entities: the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands (CNMI), which is a territory of the United States, and Guam, which is an unincorporated territory of the United States.
