Darcha
Darcha (also recorded as Daarchaa, Darachaq, Darcha', Darchaa, Dartcha, Dartsa, or Darcha ae ay) is a village in Gagil municipality on Gagil-Tamil in Yap State of the Federated States of Micronesia.
Darcha is located at approximately 9.534822424 latitude and 138.1755892 longitude.
A historic site consisting of the ruins of a Japanese lighthouse and associated World War II artefacts is located approximately 0.42 km from the village.
The village appears in the 1968 Trust Territory Physical Planning Program, Final Report, Yap as “Darcha ae ay” and was enumerated as Village No. 41 within Dalipebinau municipality. In the planning report’s village index, the village number is presented in parentheses, a notation used in associated mapping that may indicate an uninhabited or only periodically inhabited settlement.
Caste and class
Darcha is classified within the Yapese system of ranked villages associated with Tabinaw as Caste III, Class 9 (III–9–C).
This places Darcha among the lower-ranking villages within the Gagil area. Villages at this level occupied a relatively subordinate position within systems of landholding and inter-village relationships tied to higher-ranking settlements.
