Abstract: Cultural practices on the island, noting that the bases of cliffs and slopes behind the beaches are primarily used for coconut plantations and some areas for cultivating crops like sweet potatoes, manihot, tobacco, and Alocasia macrorrhiza. Within the coconut plantations, various trees and shrubs can be found, including Artocarpus altilis (breadfruit) and Hibiscus species.

The observations were made over a short two-and-a-half-hour period, and as such, the collection of 120 species detailed in the paper likely only represents a fraction of the island’s total vascular flora. Certain species were documented without being collected due to time constraints. Some plant specimens mentioned have not been distributed for further study due to their condition. The document includes mentions of specific plants and their locations, such as Pandanus species forming thickets on cliff tops and within coconut plantations, and various other species being noted in village areas.

The authors acknowledge the assistance of local residents, including Mr. Santos for supplying vernacular names, and local children who helped collect plant specimens. However, due to the limited duration of their visit, more extensive exploration would be needed to fully document the island’s flora.
