Abstract: KPress Vol. 13 Iss. 19: NEWS: The issue covers community events and education developments in Pohnpei, including Market and International Youth Day activities, renewed momentum for the Pohnpei Boxing Club with appearances by club members and a visiting boxing figure, and recognition of a Pohnpei artist selected for a virtual gallery; it also reports on an education dispute at PICS High School in which Acting Principal Sohnster Edgar challenges his demotion, arguing that responsibility for multiple years of low COMET performance cannot be attributed solely to him, citing delayed approval of the school’s Action Plan, shortages of senior-level English and mathematics teachers due to leave approvals and staffing gaps, reassignment of a WorldTeach volunteer away from senior English, unmet requests for additional teachers, and broader FSM-wide COMET performance issues, while noting that the Department of Education and senior officials were unavailable for comment during JEMCO meetings in Hawaii and that Edgar has consulted legal aid regarding possible legal action
