Abstract: Type material recorded off Tafunsak village, Kosrae, at 5°22’N 163°02’E, consists of a holotype male 4.2 mm (AM P42695) from rock washings on an exposed reef flat, collected 16 July 1991 at station 4, with 14 paratypes (AM P42696) bearing the same collection data. A corresponding description notes body length to 4.2 mm; pereon and pleon segments 1–2 with a few long dorsal setae; head with a subocular notch and relatively large eye; antenna 1 about two-thirds body length with peduncular articles 1 and 2 subequal, article 3 a little over half the length of article 2, a flagellum slightly shorter than the peduncle with about 18 articles, and an accessory flagellum of one long and one rudimentary article; antenna 2 small, scarcely one-third the length of antenna 1, with peduncular article 4 longer than article 5 and a flagellum shorter than articles 4+5 combined, comprising four articles with the terminal article rudimentary; mandible noted. A separate description of a 2.7 mm specimen details a head with rounded eye lobes; antenna 1 with basodistal article ratios 3:4:2, a lower margin discontinuity on article 2, a broad basal region set off from a narrower distal region by a pair of stout, unequal spines, and a flagellum longer than the peduncle with 14 articles; antenna 2 only a little shorter than antenna 1, with peduncular article 4 a little shorter than article 5 and a flagellum of four articles; mandible with a heavily triturative molar and bifurcate lacinia mobilis; maxilla 1 with a large, asetiferous inner plate and a slender palp reaching about 75% along the outer plate, bearing two long terminal simple setae; maxilla 2 with an inner plate a little more than half the length of the outer plate and three terminal setae; labium outer plate anterior margin with two sharp teeth; maxilliped with a tiny inner plate tipped with one seta, a broadly rounded outer plate, and palp article 4 not reaching the apex of the outer plate; coxae 1–3 narrowing slightly distally, coxa 4 disproportionately larger with a strongly concave posterior margin; gnathopods 1–2 of medium size with almost transverse palms and dactyls fitting the palms; pereopods noted. Figure 3 labels Paradexamine tafunsaka n. sp., female 2.7 mm, from off Tafunsak Village, Kosrae. Type material from Utwe Harbour, Kosrae, at 5°17’N 162°59’E, includes a holotype male 4.5 mm (AM P42700) collected among Thalassia hemprichii and Enhalus acoroides in less than 1 m depth on 30 June 1991 at station 2, with 40 paratypes (AM P42698) bearing the same collection data.
