Abstract: KPress Vol. 07 Iss. 20: NEWS: An impeachment resolution is placed before a special committee in the Chuuk State House of Representatives, as the House forms a committee to advance articles of impeachment against Governor Wesley Simina; the resolution establishing the committee is introduced by Representative Roman Robert of the Northern Namoneas region; the resolution introducing the articles of impeachment alleges that over the course of the current administration there have been multiple acts of executive indiscretion described as illegal in nature, stating that despite attempts to resolve the matters informally, the Executive failed to rectify the situations, and asserting that multiple impeachable offenses appear to exist, including neglect and failure to prevent matters from spiraling out of control; among the primary allegations is the claim that Governor Simina failed to appoint a State Auditor, although the Governor did make such an appointment, which the resolution disputes or questions; additional accusations allege that the Governor failed to report to the Legislature on the use of appropriated funds despite a legal requirement to do so, and that he failed to respond to resolutions of the House or Senate as required by the Constitution of the State of Chuuk; a separate report recounts statements by Narson Narios regarding a traffic accident that left him hospitalized, noting that only one vehicle was involved and that the identity of the so-called “mystery taxi driver” remains unknown. OPINION / EDITORIAL: Public advisories warn readers to delete suspicious emails or letters and not to forward money or bank account details; an example lottery scam is described involving personalized letters sent through the postal system claiming large winnings under the name “United Benefits Aus $45,000,000 Lottery”; a disclaimer notes that opinions expressed in the BNN column are those of the author.
