Abstract: Extracts from a report by Fr. Gerard Bouwens to the Duchess of Aveiro summarize the troubles attributed to Governor Esplana, Saravia’s death, Solorzano’s mission reorganization, Quiroga’s reconquest and northern campaigns, the salvage of Concepcion artillery, the Guam rebellion of 23 July 1684, deaths of missionaries, and the losses in Tinian and the northern islands.
