Abstract: This translated extract from Gabriel de Aranda's biography of Sebastian de Monroy presents the same later hagiographic narrative in English. It covers Monroy's spiritual formation, his arrival and work in the Marianas, the mission at Orote, the revolt at Orote and Sumay, and the circumstances of his martyrdom in 1676, alongside an account of Chamorro customs and mission conditions.
