Abstract: Legazpi, in his letter to the King, reports on his command of a fleet consisting of “two large ships, two pataches, and one small brig,” which carries 150 men, 200 soldiers, and six members of the religious order of St. Augustine, including their leader Father Fray Andres de Urdaneta. The total number of people on board, including servants, is 380. Legazpi expresses his intention to leave the port the following day, November 18, 1564, showing diligence and fidelity in his mission, which he hopes will be successful. He petitions the King for support, emphasizing that the voyage is significant for God’s service, the spread of the Catholic faith, the service of the King, and the general welfare of the king’s realms. Legazpi also requests that the King approve the proposals he made to the Viceroy, which have already been forwarded to Spain, noting that he has used all his resources for the voyage preparation/
