Abstract: The Carletti brothers’ testimony describes the life of foreign merchants who sailed aboard Spanish galleons. Their story details commercial dealings, hardships of the voyage, and tensions between traders and colonial authorities. The narrative offers a rare outsider’s perspective on routes that sometimes skirted Micronesian archipelagos such as the Marshall Islands.
