Abstract: Includes "“Perceptions of Suicide Among Emerging Adults of the Chuukese Population” by Jacklyn Garote: This research study explored the perceptions of and reasons for suicide among emerging adults in the Chuukese population in Guam. The research investigation gathered six participants who identified as emerging adults (ages 18 to 24) with Chuukese ethnic backgrounds. The study utilized a qualitative methodology, and data was obtained through interviews. All participants were asked interview questions regarding perceptions on suicide from a personal and cultural standpoint, as well as the response to, warning signs of, and protective factors against suicide, unique to emerging adults of Chuukese descent. Findings revealed that culture, close relationships, family, and gender played a large role in suicide attempts and completions among Chuukese individuals.
