Abstract: Pope Clement XI appeals directly to King Philip V of Spain to support a proposed mission to islands believed to lie between the Philippines and the Marianas. Drawing on reports from the Archbishop of Manila and Jesuit procurators Andrés Serrano and Domingo Medel, the brief frames the inhabitants as peaceful and receptive to the Catholic faith and asks that ships and necessities be provided for missionaries.
