Abstract: This issue of TTPI Headquarters News announces a transportation officer’s imminent arrival, a note of appreciation, staffing updates, visitors to Saipan, and a new radio program for classroom English in Palau. The Director of Education conveys thanks to TT Court Reporter Pat Shook for donating a 14-volume Book of Knowledge, an 11-volume Do It Yourself set, and eight additional books to the Yap Education Department. Among visitors to Saipan are Mr. and Mrs. Harry Uyehara of Yap; Mr. Uyehara, the district’s Educational Administrator, is meeting with Director of Education Robert E. Gibson and the Special Coordinating Committee of the Accelerated Education Program.
The Palau classroom radio program is tailored for public elementary schools and consists of four parts: “Christopher Crocodile and Dora Dugong” for beginners, segments aligned with Fries English Text Numbers One and Two, and “Sing Along With Ymesei,” which teaches a new song each week in conjunction with Some Songs of Palau. With Miss O’Connell on home leave, temporary reassignments place Mrs. D. MacKenzie in the High Commissioner’s Office and Mrs. E. Stanger in the District Administrator’s Office.
