Abstract: KPress Vol. 15 Iss. 11: NEWS: Representatives from Japan and the Federated States of Micronesia gathered at the Pohnpei Port Authority to mark the handover of disaster-relief donations for Typhoon Maysak and the formal turnover of the FSM field trip vessel MV Four Winds; relief supplies destined for Chuuk, including 35 water purifiers and 870 jerry cans, were confirmed as already delivered and staged on the ground; Micronesia Red Cross Society (MRCS) chapters are highlighted as early responders to the Typhoon Maysak disaster, with volunteers activating immediately following landfall in Chuuk and Yap; European Union support enables Pohnpei Utilities Corporation to save approximately USD 320,000 in fuel costs, easing post-disaster fiscal pressure; Pohnpei commemorates the 100th anniversary of the Battle of Gallipoli during ANZAC Day observances, reinforcing historical and diplomatic ties with Australia and New Zealand; the FSM Department of Justice allows the dismissal of Itimai’s motion, advancing the related legal proceedings; the People’s Republic of China donates USD 500,000 to FSM’s Typhoon Maysak response efforts; President Manny Mori formally requests a United States emergency declaration in the aftermath of Super Typhoon Maysak; USAID airlifts critical humanitarian relief supplies to Chuuk and Yap as part of international assistance to the FSM; the Australian Government announces support to FSM’s disaster response, including the deployment of two Pacific Patrol Boats to assist with recovery by transporting people and emergency humanitarian supplies to remote islands; MRCS reports rapid and effective response capacity due to the pre-positioning of disaster supplies prior to Typhoon Maysak.
