Abstract: KPress Vol. 10 Iss. 25: NEWS: Pohnpei, FSM—Twenty-four recruits graduated on November 9 from the first-ever Pohnpei Police Academy after completing a sixteen-week program that began in late July and included participants from municipal police departments across the island, with officials noting that many recruits were already serving officers and highlighting the significance of standardized training for professionalization of law enforcement; public accountability reporting includes findings from the Office of the Public Auditor criticizing the management of Caroline Islands Air (CIA), a public corporation established by FSM law in 1997, citing a long history of under-management, failure of the board to meet quarterly as required by law, lack of strategic planning, and continued reliance on subsidies rather than movement toward the profitable privatization envisioned in its enabling legislation; community and youth coverage reports on a photography contest involving forty-eight participants who were issued disposable cameras, with winning photographs selected across animal, landscape, and culture categories and scheduled for public display at the new Bank of Guam building in Nett, alongside an awards ceremony recognizing youth participation and creativity.
