Abstract: Narrative of the voyage of the Nuestra Señora de la Cinta from Peru across the Pacific. The account describes storms, long calms, and shortages of food and water, with many crew members weakened or lost to disease. It highlights the difficulties of navigation in unknown waters and the dangers of reefs and islands encountered en route. Despite hardships, the ship reached the Philippines, adding to knowledge of Pacific crossings and reinforcing Spain’s determination to sustain connections between its South American and Asian possessions.
