Abstract: KPress Vol. 15 Iss. 01: NEWS: This issue reports on a coordinated law enforcement and humanitarian assistance effort in Yap jointly led by assistant attorneys general from the FSM Department of Justice and the Yap State Attorney General’s Office; it details a maritime rescue in which a Yapese fishing vessel located and aided two Papua New Guinea men who had been adrift for months and were found within the FSM exclusive economic zone south of Kapingamarangi; regional and community news includes coverage of three Micronesian teenagers killed in a hit-and-run incident in Guam and a Rotary fundraising event that raised significant funds for scholarships; fisheries governance tensions are noted ahead of the 11th Western and Central Pacific Fisheries Commission meeting; and the issue features an Office of the Public Auditor performance audit of the Pohnpei Port Authority for fiscal years 2011–2013, examining expenditures including a $150,000 allocation to a state airline task force, recommending suspension of further spending until formal establishment of the task force, reviewing the increase in airport departure fees from $10 to $20 and its revenue impacts, and identifying concerns related to travel authorization procedures and financial controls.
