Abstract: Colonial officials warn of the growing Dutch naval presence near the Philippines. Their dispatches call for reinforcements and improved coordination with New Spain. The reports identify possible Dutch entry through Micronesian waters such as the Marshall Islands, increasing Spanish anxiety over the security of Pacific crossings.
