Abstract: KPress Vol. 12 Iss. 02: NEWS: Mwalok, Pohnpei, FSM—The Pingelapese community living in Mwalok on Sokehs Island marked 2012 as a significant year with cultural and community celebrations, including a parade organized around the community’s four geographic segments and judged by a three-person panel to ensure fairness and broad representation, reflecting efforts to preserve identity and cohesion among Pingelapese residents living away from Pingelap Atoll; law-enforcement and judicial coverage from Chuuk reports that the Chuuk State Department of Public Safety announced completion of its investigation into allegations that officers assaulted retired U.S. Army Major Theresa Price, with officers maintaining that injuries were largely self-inflicted and that only necessary force was used, while the Chuuk Attorney General returned the investigative report to CDPS requesting further information, noting delays and unresolved questions after more than eight months of inquiry, and indicating that decisions regarding arrest warrants would depend on additional clarification and guidance from the Attorney General’s office, leaving the matter unresolved pending further action.
