Abstract: General Hebert’s declaration from Pondichery summarizes Boislore’s forced stop at Ilocos after leaving China for the South Sea, the Spanish arrest of the captain, and the confiscation of the Éclair and its cargo. Levesque also notes additional French archival documents concerning the Éclair, its officers, and Boislore’s imprisonment.
