Abstract: KPress Vol. 18 Iss. 01: NEWS: Construction begins on a pedestrian sidewalk project linking the SDA area to Pohnpei International Airport, funded through congressional allocations sponsored by the Pohnpei Delegation to improve health, safety, and infrastructure for pedestrians; project plans include raised walkways over drainage culverts, buffer zones separating pedestrians from traffic, flood mitigation measures, and solar-powered lighting along the causeway; VCS wins bids for major portions of the sidewalk and related roadway projects near the Pohnpei Legislature; the Japanese government hands over heavy construction equipment valued at approximately ¥52 million to the Pohnpei Transportation Authority, including trucks, trailers, and fuel equipment, along with training for operators; humanitarian and regional coverage includes Operation Christmas Drop 2017, discussions of FSM transportation challenges, and reporting on the second annual Human Rights and Migration Festival.
