Abstract: Statement by Frank E. Midliff, Special U.S. Representative to the U.N. Trusteeship Council, on the US Administration of the Trust Territory of the Pacific Islands (TTPI). Made in the Trusteeship Council on July 2 and released to the press on the same date. Midliff argues political advancement involves study and observance of the situation, the needs, and the factors underlying the existing system as worked out by the people themselves over untold and long generations to meet the conditions imposed by their environment. And posits that to has been observed that such a system in Micronesia clearly reliable feature; namely, it works.
