Abstract: Admiral Esteban Ramos certifies from his experience after the 1638 Concepción wreck and the 1664 rescue of Manila natives that the Ladrones were populous, peaceful, and readily open to evangelization with only a small escort. The statement became supporting evidence in San Vitores's campaign to establish a mission in the Marianas.
