Abstract: KPress Vol. 13 Iss. 02: NEWS: Pohnpei, FSM—Pohnpei State formally rolled out its first Strategic Development Plan, the result of nearly three years of work by local stakeholders with technical consultation from Michigan State University, with Governor John Ehsa describing the plan as a voter-mandated effort to address long-standing economic challenges and characterizing its launch as a milestone moment for the state despite limited public detail at the unveiling ceremony attended by executive and legislative officials; regional and humanitarian coverage reports on Operation Christmas Drop, the world’s longest-running humanitarian airlift, during which U.S. Air Force crews operating from Andersen Air Force Base in Guam delivered food and supplies by parachute to remote islands across Micronesia and Palau, including Ulul Atoll, highlighting both the logistical challenges of aerial delivery using aging parachute equipment and the mission’s continued importance for addressing food shortages and supporting isolated island communities during the holiday season.
