Abstract: Memo for the Director, CIA, from George L. Cary, Legislative Council, concerning the State of Senate Select Committee on Intelligence Inquires Regarding [REDACTED], and date June 1977, at a time the Committee was investing alleged intelligence gathering related to Micronesian Status negotiations.

On 24 May 1977, Chairman Inouye wrote to you requesting thattheAgencysanitize the Committee's classified report [REDACTED] ...the Committee had previously voted to prepare an unclassified public version of the report. DDO is in the process of declassifying this report. The Senate Select Committee on Intelligence staff understands this will be a lengthy process.

On 24 May 1977, Chairman Inouye wrote requesting access by Committee staff members Stan Taylor and Dan Childs to the financial records [REDACTED] ... The DDCI has asked that OLC develop a recommendation on this request, to cover whether this will establish a precedent, the implication for requests for future Congressional audits of unvouchered funds, and the pros and cons of such a review of financial records. This position is under development"
