Abstract: It gives me particular pleasure to announce the 1967 booklocker program. Developed in response to Volunteer requests, the booklocker has proved one of our most popular Peace Corps traditions. The booklocker has a new look this year: Following the suggestions of many Volunteers, three different editions of the locker are being distributed. Each locker contains 120 books, instead of the 240 titles included in the past. By making 360 t i t l e s available, it is hoped that you will be able t o exchange books with other Volunteers and to find more books to suit your personal reading preferences. The attached l i s t of contents includes a l l the books in the three editions of the locker. Relatively fewer job-related t i t l e s are included, because such books are now available in the technical book kits distributed to Peace Corps offices. A number of former Volunteers assisted in selecting the books, limited by the requirements that all be available in inexpensive paperback editions. As you know, the lockers vary by regions of the world; however, we must ask you to rely on local sources for more detailed information on your country・ The Office of Volunteer Support is anxious to improve the booklocker and would appreciate your suggestions, either for specific titles or for basic changes in the character of this program. For instance, some Volunteers have suggested developing regional office libraries in lieu of distributing booklockers - an idea which you may wish to discuss with your staff.
