Abstract: Comprehensive taxonomic checklist and literature synthesis of marine benthic algae across Yap State, including Yap Island and the atolls of Ulithi, Ifalik, and Sorol. The report compiles historical and modern records from early phycological surveys (Reinbold, Okamura, Tokida) through contemporary University of Guam Marine Laboratory studies, integrating species-level identifications across Cyanophyta, Chlorophyta, Phaeophyta, and Rhodophyta. A total of 224 species (106 genera) are documented, with distributional distinctions between Yap proper and outer atolls. The work incorporates data from environmental surveys, lagoon studies, and targeted taxonomic research, including genera such as Caulerpa, Sargassum, and Gracilaria. The report also situates algal diversity within broader coastal ecosystems, including seagrass assemblages and reef habitats. Designed as both a reference checklist and bibliographic guide, it supports marine resource management, ecological research, and environmental assessment in Yap State.
