Abstract: KPress Vol. 15 Iss. 13: NEWS: Despite heavy overnight damage from Tropical Storm Dolphin, large crowds filled and surrounded the FSM Congress Chambers in Palikir to observe legislative proceedings; President Manny Mori exercised his constitutional authority to grant pardons to ten FSM citizens, with the pardon documents citing provisions of FSM criminal law including conspiracy and public-record tampering statutes and affirming that the power derives from Article X of the FSM Constitution; Nauru Airlines announced the launch of new weekly commercial flights linking Pohnpei and Kosrae, expanding regional air connectivity; FSM Registration Advisors marked a decade-long partnership supporting civil registration systems in Micronesia; a Pohnpei legislative delegation paid a courtesy call on President Peter Christian; a survey released by the Office of Statistics, Budget and Economic Management, Overseas Development Assistance, and Compact Management (SBOC) indicated that roughly two out of every three FSM households struggle to meet basic financial needs; a “Voice of the Athletes and Excellence for Life” workshop was held to support athlete development and personal growth; the Oregon House of Representatives passed a bipartisan resolution expressing appreciation for the Compact of Free Association and recognizing the historical relationship between the United States and the Freely Associated States, including the Republic of the Marshall Islands, the Federated States of Micronesia, and Palau; the resolution’s sponsor highlighted the high per-capita rate of military service among citizens of Compact nations and noted that the measure was forwarded to the Oregon Senate for consideration.
