Abstract: KPress Vol. 14 Iss. 18: NEWS: This issue documents the conclusion of the 8th Micronesia Games in Pohnpei, noting that all participating jurisdictions earned medals and none returned home empty-handed; Pohnpei’s soccer team won the first-ever gold medal in football, while the men’s softball team earned gold and the women’s softball team earned bronze, with additional highlights including a bronze medal for Pohnpei’s spearfishing team, a gold medal in swimming by Debra Daniel in the 100-meter backstroke, and a silver medal for the men’s volleyball team; Yap athletes earned a total of 55 medals, with all athletics medals coming from field events and a bronze medal in the men’s long-distance canoe race, while Kosrae athletes secured medals across canoeing and wrestling, including three golds in wrestling; Chuuk athletes earned the largest share of their medals in athletics, marking significant progress including the team’s first experience competing on a full-size soccer field with full teams; overall medal rankings were based on gold medals earned, and in aggregate the FSM states collectively won 60 gold medals, reflecting broad participation, competitive balance, and strong regional sports development across the Games.
