Abstract: This Spanish extract from Gabriel de Aranda's 1690 biography of Sebastian de Monroy combines hagiographic chapters on his early life with selections on Mariana customs, Monroy's arrival in 1674, missionary labors at Orote, the Orote-Sumay revolt, and his martyrdom in 1676. It is a major later narrative source for Monroy's life and for the rebellion that ended in his death.
