Abstract: KPress Vol. 14 Iss. 03: NEWS: This issue reports on the discovery of approximately 1,900-year-old archaeological artifacts at Kahlap in Mwoakilloa, following community approval for archaeologists to excavate a three-meter test unit to systematically document cultural materials; continuing coverage addresses the grounding of the fisheries support vessel Ping Da 7 on Pohnpei’s reef, with informed sources indicating that the hull had not been breached and no hazardous environmental contaminants were leaking at the time, while official information remained limited to government press releases; the issue also details findings from an audit by the FSM Office of the National Public Auditor examining national government travel expenditures from fiscal years 2010–2012, which found average annual travel spending of about $6 million, widespread non-compliance with existing travel guidelines, ineffective monitoring and review of travel advances, failures to refund government travel funded by outside sponsors, improper handling of non-government employee travel, and missing documentation in a significant portion of sampled travel vouchers.
