Federated States of Micronesia (June 2012). Pohnpei International Airport Master Plan (Report). Pohnpei: Department of Transportation, Communication and Infrastructure.

Abstract: This master planning document outlines the long-term development strategy for Pohnpei International Airport, including infrastructure upgrades, aviation forecasts, and capital improvement programs over a 20-year horizon. The plan evaluates existing airport conditions, including runway capacity, facilities, and operations, and projects future demand driven largely by tourism growth. It identifies key constraints such as limited airline service, high travel costs, and infrastructure limitations, and proposes phased improvements including runway expansion, terminal upgrades, and enhanced safety and navigation systems. The plan also emphasizes the airport’s role in supporting economic development, particularly through tourism and regional connectivity.
