Kwajalein is an atoll, situated in the Ratak, Eastern, or "Sunrise" group of islands, in the Republic of the Marshall Islands. In Marshallese, "Kwajalein" means to break, or to harvest, the fruit.
Alternative spellings and historic names include: Catherine (north), Kuadelen, Kwajelin, Lydia (middle), Margaret (south), Menschikov, Petterson, Quadelen, and Zwadjelinn.
