Andon L. Amaraich was a distinguished Micronesian statesman who played a foundational role in the creation of the Federated States of Micronesia. Born on August 24, 1932, in Ta, Mortlock Islands, Chuuk, he rose from humble beginnings with limited formal schooling to become one of the most influential leaders in Micronesian history.

Amaraich passed away on January 27, 2010, at the age of 77. He is remembered as a founding father of the FSM, instrumental in drafting the FSM Constitution, and as a figure who "forged the path of self-government" and helped establish the nation's democratic government.
